The IB French B course focuses on language acquisition and skill development for students with prior French language experience. It aims to cultivate competence in French and explore French cultures worldwide. The syllabus revolves around five themes: identity, experiences, human ingenuity, social organization, and sharing the planet. A communicative teaching approach is used, with instruction exclusively in French. Students are exposed to various texts, including audio and audiovisual materials, to gain insight into French cultures. Emphasis is placed on composition, essay writing, vocabulary, reading, and conversational skills. The final grade consists of a 75 percent external component, comprising a written examination and an internal component, accounting for 25 percent, based on recorded individual oral assessments and follow-up discussions between teachers and students.
