No longer children but not yet adults, adolescents are beginning to face life decisions that
may have major consequences for them as well as others. Their lives are changing rapidly,
and they need more advanced knowledge and skills to understand and cope with the changes
they are experiencing and to make responsible decisions about their physical and mental
health. As they grow into their adult selves, they have the opportunity to establish patterns
of healthy, active living that will benefit them throughout their lives. Grade 7 and 8 students add to their knowledge of healthy eating practices and deepen
their understanding of the relationship between eating patterns and disease, making
healthier food choices, and promoting healthy eating to others.
